The Bharatiya Janata Party withdrew its support from Jammu and Kashmir's ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calling off the coalition government alliance.

"It had become "untenable" for the party to continue being a part of the coalition government in Srinagar",the BJP's Jammu and Kashmir in-charge Ram Madhav said in a press conference in New Delhi.

Madhav added that the decision to withdraw support was taken after consultations within the BJP.

The BJP sent a letter to the Governor NN Vohra stating that it wants to withdraw support from the PDP.

The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had formed the government in alliance in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016. PDP's Mehbooba Mufti was elected as the chief minister.

Following the news of the withdrawal of BJP Omar Abdullah took to twitter saying, "And so it has come to pass….".
