The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu played a video of PM Modi promising all support required to build the newly bifurcated state. But the CM said that the Prime Minister went back on his word. He appealed to his voters to defeat the BJP in the 2019 elections for its promises are empty.

Lies at Tirupati means lying at the feet of Balaji of Tirumala many in Tirupati said. And somebody who can lie in front of the Balaji can do anything.

Reminding Modi

In an effort to remind Prime minister Narendra Modi of the promises he made during the 2014 election campaign to the residual state of Andhra Pradesh, Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu organised a massive public meeting on April 30 at the holy temple town of Tirupati. (deccanherald.com)

It was in Tirupati that Modi, then the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, declared that he will help the state build a capital more magnificent than Delhi and accord SCS. (deccanherald.com)

Invoking the presiding deity of Tirumala, Modi had said, "I am giving an assurance to the people of Andhra Pradesh today, that if you send me to Delhi, we will not only fulfil the promise of special category status given to Andhra but also extend it". (deccanherald.com)

Naidu also alleged centre for doing petty politics and alleged that while it promised special funds to backward districts on the lines of Bundelkhand, "But, they gave only Rs 350 crore per year and that too was taken back after crediting in our account." (indiatoday.in)

Regional partners of the NDA are unhappy

Chandra Babu is an example of many such partners of the BJP that are unhappy. The BJP has resurrected itself as a national party taking the support of these regional players. But in the larger scheme of things the BJP would like its own direct candidates in place rather than bank on regional leaders that determine the future of BJP in each state. But that takes years of work to build these leaders up before the incumbent regional leaders can be sidelined.
