In retaliation to the action of enemy, Indian army on the occasion of Army Day gave a tough fight to the Pakistan regulars as well as terrorists at Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir.

Seven Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliatory firing by the Army after Pakistani army violated ceasefire in Jammu's Mendhar sector and in Kashmir region an infiltration bid was also foiled with the elimination of five militants of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad militant outfit.
Sources in Defence said that the army action came on a day when Indian Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat sent a stern message to Pakistan, saying it may escalate its offensive against terror groups and carry out the 'other action' if forced by the neighbouring country.
An army officer posted at LoC confirmed that Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the LoC and resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling on forward posts in Mendhar sector of Poonch, opposite to Pak's Kotli sector. Indian troops also started retaliation targeting the posts from where Pakistan was firing.
Earlier, in the morning, Indian Army also foiled a major infiltration bid by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists along the LoC, in Uri sector of North Kashmir and eliminated 5 armed terrorists.
It was the biggest infiltration attempt of year 2018, which was successfully foiled by army.
An army officer in Kashmir, Brigadier YS Ahlawat told media persons that the infiltration attempt was made along the river Jhelum, which flows into Pakistan from India. He added that a major tragedy has been averted on Army Day and in the run up to the Republic Day celebrations.
